10 Creative Ways to Gift Wrap a Baseball Bat, Batting Tee, or Softball/Baseball Gift

gift boxes wrapped in holiday paper

You’ve got the perfect baseball or softball gift picked out (hopefully a new Tanner batting tee) - that’s sure to thrill the hitter in your family.

It’s safely hidden for now, but how do you gift wrap a bat, batting tee, or practice net without making the contents obvious? How do you gift wrap a bat? Can you disguise a batting tee? How do you keep your perfect softball or baseball gift a surprise?

Here are some of our favorite ideas on how to disguise a gift for your clever hitter this Holiday season or for any gift-giving day.

It’s Not What You Think It Is

If you haven’t gone down the internet rabbit hole of funny disguised gifts for inspiration yet, settle in for some wild and brilliant ideas to disguise your gift as something else entirely.  Get creative as you transform your gift to look like items such as a chair, bicycle, toilet, sailboat, or even a cat. *  If you’re creative and have a little extra time on your hands, this is the ultimate misdirect for your softball gift or baseball gift. (Photo source: Twistedsifter.com)

*Do not actually wrap a cat, of course.

Hide and Seek (Scavenger Hunt)

This one takes a little planning and is also fun to do as a family (except for the recipient) if everyone can keep a secret. Hide the actual gift somewhere in the house and put the first “clue” to the scavenger hunt in a wrapped box.  Lead your child (or adult partner) on a fun holiday scavenger hunt with 2 or 3 additional stops for more clues before they figure out the location of their big gift.

More is More

Oversize softball gifts and baseball gifts like a new batting tee or bat can be tough to disguise. Connect with neighbors and friends to see if they have a large box for items like a vacuum cleaner, TV lawnmower, or other items that your player won’t suspect.  (Be cautious of using TV boxes though, your hitter might be disappointed to discover they didn’t get that new 75” big screen for their bedroom 😊)

A Mashup

This is a variation on the More is More strategy.  In addition to an oversized box for the item, attach more empty boxes and wrap the whole Mashup as if it were a single item to create an unusual shape that they’ll never suspect.

Nothing to See Here

Will anyone be surprised if you add a new fun piece of DIY holiday décor? No? Then disguise your large gift as a part of your holiday decorating such as a snowman, Grinch, Christmas tree, etc. (Photo source: Biggerthanthethreeofus.com)

The Ole Switcheroo

Take a photo of your gift and wrap the photo in a box your player will never suspect as being their dream gift. Whether you choose a big box or a small one, you’ll keep them guessing until the big reveal.  (Check out #11 for some added intrigue for this idea.)

Hide in Plain Sight

If you’re gifting a bat at Christmas, put the bat inside the Christmas tree with only the knob sticking out like a holiday ornament.

Words of Affirmation

Wrap a little box with small trinket or baseball/softball and a note that says, “Tell (the person/people giving the gift) how much you love them to trade this in for a better gift.”  And wait for the sweet words of love to flow. 😊

If You Water It, Will It Grow?

Wrap a small version of the gift (like a mini baseball bat, glove charm, etc.) and they’ll never suspect it!  Once they open the mini, surprise them with a reveal of the full-size version.

Does this Count as Re-gifting?

Wrap their old, worn-out piece of equipment. Once they get past their initial confusion, enlighten them by unveiling (literally or figuratively) their new equipment gift.

Bonus Idea for Gift Cards and Gift Certificates

Sometimes the best gift is cash or a gift card/gift certificate but that doesn’t mean you need to miss out on the fun.  To keep your hitter guessing, use any box but include something “noisy” such as jingle bells, beans, puzzle pieces, small stones, etc. that will make noise when they try to shake the box to guess what’s inside.

Focus on Being In the Moment and Making Memories

There are few things sweeter than seeing the joy on a loved one’s face when you can surprise them with a treasured gift.  We hope these ideas to disguise a softball or baseball gift add some extra fun to your future family memories.
