The amount of softball hitting aids on the market can be overwhelming. With so much to choose from, it’s difficult to know which hitting aids are right for you. There are many factors to consider when choosing the right training aids, including the player’s age and skill level, although many of the products listed can be used by beginner and advanced athletes alike. Here is a short list of hitting aids to help you improve your training.
The VeloPRO resistance training system works to unlock a hitter’s maximum velocity by connecting heels and maximizing ground force reaction. It works by keeping the barrel in the zone longer, enhances plate coverage and optimizes swing efficiency ratings. The VeloPRO harness aims to increase a batter’s exit velocity by 25%. It also states that your hand and barrel speed will increase by 5-7 MPH.
The VeloPRO system wraps around your waist and connects to your foot with a strap. It takes just 30 seconds to secure.
This lightweight, portable developmental tool helps correct over striding, stepping in the bucket, improper weight shift and dragging of the back foot. The Pivot Pro is great for developing a batter’s individual stride length and their hip and shoulder rotation. It helps develop a quicker swing and better tracking of the pitch.
At Tanner Tees we continually work to improve the hitting and training aids that we create. Built to withstand heavy use, year after year, the Tanner Pro is one of the newest additions to the Tanner lineup and features our signature hand rolled FlexTop™ to accommodate softballs (and baseballs). It features an easy to carry base for maximum portability, while also being weighted, to ensure a firm foundation while hitting.
This small device can be used to help correct a hitter’s grip technique. It fits both right and left handed batters and is made from a rubber-like resin. Being lightweight, it won’t alter the weight you are used to. It’s also small enough to fit in your pocket when running the bases.
The Hitting Deck by Tanner Tees is an internally developed training aid that shows a hitter how to conduct proper tee work with emphasis on the contact zone and grooving the hitter’s swing towards making contact in the correct place to drive the ball to the desired area of the field. The product works for softball or baseball players, regardless of whether you are right or lefthanded. The Hitting Deck teaches fundamental hitting concepts that softball players can take with them throughout their careers. It’s excellent for a coach a lesson prop. It also provides a nice target for flips or front toss, while providing detailed feedback on where a hitter strides during hitting.
The SwingTracker helps track launch quickness, bat speed, time in the zone and barrel path among other metrics. It can be used for one player or for an entire team. It provides a 3D visual of the barrel/bat path so players and coaches can get instant feedback.
The easy to use software requires a dedicated iPhone or iPad and a monthly subscription service.
Every player at every skill level can benefit from a quality catch net. The Tanner Net features a 7’ x 7’ portable flex frame that sets up quickly and is built to last season after season. The Tanner Net is perfect for softball (and baseball) practice and comes with a carrying case and shoulder strap.
